Our Teachers
In the IA Online, students lead a great deal of their own learning. However, we all need guides and mentors along the way, and the teachers below play a huge role in making the learning experience even more meaningful for our students.
Corey Topf
Corey is the Director and co-founder of the IA Online. He is also the Innovation Diploma Coordinator at the American International School of Budapest. In 2013, he had the privilege of designing and leading the original Innovation Academy at The American School in Lima, Peru.
Joseph Bonnici
Joe hails from Malta and is the IA Coordinator at the American School of Lima, Peru. He is the co-founder of the IA Online and helped teach one of the first IA Online courses ever when it began in July of 2020. He’s back to teach one hybrid section for the 2023-2024 school year.
Angela Erickson
Angie has worked at the United World College of South East Asia for 11 years and is currently their librarian and Head of PBL. For the 2023-2024 school year, she is teaching the Imperfect Art of Living course and our leadership course to students throughout Asia and the world.
Adriana Lassus
Adriana is currently the Global Education, Leadership & Community Engagement Coordinator at Colegio Pedro Valdivia in Santiago, Chile. She graduated from the American School in Lima and has co-taught the Imperfect Art of Living and the Psychology of Leadership with us.
Lola Sanchez-Carrion
Lola is a 3rd-grade teacher at The Bold School in New York. She has taught the Imperfect Art of Living course periodically since it started online in July of 2020. Lola graduated from the American School in Lima, Peru in 2015 before graduating from Duke University in 2019.
Bill Cotter
Bill is the Programming Director at Students Shoulder-to-Shoulder. Prior to that, he taught 11th grade for two years at the Roosevelt Innovation Academy. He also helps teach sections of the Imperfect Art of Living and stays involved with the Innovation Academy in a variety of ways.
Sara Bivin
Sara is a history teacher at Isidore Newman School in New Orleans. She taught the Imperfect Art of Living course two summers in a row when she was at ASFM in Monterrey. Sara was also one of our first IA Online teachers back in July of 2020.
Aaron Alcodray
Aaron wears many hats as the Coordinator of Personalized Learning at The American School in Japan. Since August of 2020, he has taught one section each year of the Imperfect Art of Living course as a face-to-face option for 10th - 12th graders at ASIJ in Tokyo.
Valentina Alvarez
Valentina is an American School of Lima alumn and is pursuing her master’s degree at USC next year. She has been an intern and co-teacher on both the Imperfect Art of Living course and our leadership course.
Jordan Bowman
Jordan teaches MS humanities at the American International School of Johannesburg, and he is the founding designer of JIS Studios at the Jakarta Intercultural School. He will be joining the IA Online to teach the Imperfect Art of Living in July of 2024.
Kurt Wittig
Kurt is the Head of Libraries at the United World College of South East Asia and an honorary member of the IA Online. Not only has he taken our teacher course, but he has also sat in on the Imperfect Art of Living course for a full semester. Most importantly he has connected us with great UWCSEA teachers and students over the last three years.
Chip Phillips
Chip is the college counselor at the American School of Guatemala. He has worked in education both as a teacher and counselor and taught the IA Online during the 2022-2023 school year.
